[Glue Knowledge] Matters needing attention in injection of weather-resistant glue for caulking of exposed frame glass curtain wall

(1) Clean the gaps between the boards, and there must be no water stains, oil stains, paint, rust, cement mortar, dust, etc. The joint surface should be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Toluene or methyl diethyl ketone can be used as cleaning agents.

(2) In order to adjust the depth of the joint and avoid three-sided glue, the joint should be filled with polyvinyl chloride foam (small round rod).

(3) Avoid the pollution of the sealant to the glass and aluminum plates. Apply protective tape to both sides of the seam.

(4) After the glue is injected, the surface of the glue should be smoothed to remove excess glue.

(5) After the injection is completed, tear off the protective tape and wipe it with solvent if necessary.

(6) Pay attention to maintenance after glue injection. Before the glue is completely cured, it should not be stained with dust or scratched.

The depth (thickness) of the caulking should be smaller than the width of the seam, because when the sheets are displaced relative to each other, the glue is stretched, the thicker the gap, the greater the stretching deformation of the edge, and the easier it is to crack.

The weather-resistant silicone sealant should create a double-sided bond at the seams. Do not stick to three sides. Otherwise, the glue is easy to tear when pulled and loses the sealing and leak-proof function. To prevent a three-sided bond from forming, apply non-adhesive tape to the bottom of the gap before applying the weather-resistant silicone sealant to separate the seam from the glue.
